Karen Pillsworth, named Storyteller Laureate in 2002 by the City of Kingston, told Hanukkah and Reher Bakery stories as part of Kingston’s Sinterklaas Send-Off. Dozens of visitors huddled into the Reher bakery storefront for the November 24 event, which is a non-denominational and intercultural holiday tradition intended to unify Kingston’s neighborhoods. The Send-Off launches Sinterklaas from the Kingston Waterfront (a.k.a “Spain”) to his destination across the river.
